HH Motor - added 2004-11-08

An HH motor is used to move your dish similar to the old C band dishes. The motor contains a coax connection for power and instructions from your receiver and a second coax connection for receiving the satellite signal from the LNB.

DVB - added 2004-11-08

A set of standards that define digital broadcasting using existing satellite, cable and terrestrial infrastructures. The DVB Project consists of over 220 organizations in more than 29 countries worldwide. Additional information is available at dvb.org.

KUBand - added 2004-11-06

A part of the frequency spectrum used primarily by satellite transmissions. Normally in the range from 10.7 to 18 GHz.

CBand - added 2004-11-06

A part of the frequency spectrum used primarily by satellite transmissions. Normally in the range from 4 to 6 GHz.

FTA - added 2004-11-06

A term used in regards to receiver MPEG2 encoded satellite signals "in the clear". These signals are not encrypted thus anyone with the proper equipment may receive them

LNA - added 2004-11-06

A device that receives and amplifies weak satellite signals at the output of a feedhorn, whilst introducing as little electrical noise as possible in the process. The frequency of the incoming signal is unchanged at the output of the device. The feedhorn is typically a physically separate device.
